2.30pm-4pm - Beginners.  Suitable for absolute beginners, or those wanting to recap on what they've already learnt.

4.30pm-6pm - Beginners Plus.  Suitable for those of you who have been on at least 1 workshop (today or another day).

We have created a series of workshops in 2019 that you can come to and continue to build on your swing dancing, over a few months!

More about these workshops
In our Swing Dance Beginners Workshop we will take you through some of the foundations of this vintage partnered dance, the Lindy Hop, with plenty of time for practice!

In our Swing Dance Beginners Plus workshop we will be building on what you have learn and teaching more fun moves. You can come to just one of these workshops, or to both (with a 30 minute break!).

Our Lindy Hop workshops are friendly and supportive, and are suitable for absolute beginners, as well as those wanting to recap what they've already learnt.

About Swing Dance
We will be learning the Lindy hop, a style of swing dancing born from the dance halls of 1920s and 30s Harlem. In recent years swing dancing has been enjoying a revival, and it can now be found all over the world!

Please note that we rotate partners during the workshops.

Prices
£20/£15 conc. - Beginners workshop (2.30-4pm)
£20/£15 conc. - Beginners Plus workshop (4.30-6pm)
£35/£27 conc. - Both workshops (2.30-6pm, with 30 min break)

Lead or follow or couple?
We very much encourage men and women to try whichever role they would like to. Traditionally it's the male who leads and the female who follows, but with swing dancing you will see many people exchanging roles. If you want to book on as a follow please do so asap, as these spaces tend to fill up first!

And about your teachers
Joe Medler
Joe is a dedicated and experienced dancer, teaching weekly lindy hop/swing dance classes in Bristol and sometimes Bath. He also DJs and co-organises a monthly swing dance social night in Bristol. He has been teaching with Tamsin since 2017 for Swing Time Frome.

He first fell in love with the dance in 2010 after attending a taster class. "I'd always loved early rock n roll music and so originally thought I'd give jive dance a go until a friend suggested I try swing. I was hooked straight away by how fun, varied and playful it is!". Joe still enjoys developing his dancing through attending workshops and dance camps in the UK and abroad, bringing back what he's learnt to share in his classes.

Tamsin Marshall
Tamsin is excited to be bringing ongoing events and classes to Somerset through Swing Time Frome. She has a passion for swing dancing and solo jazz. She is enjoying spreading the joy of swing to the area!

Tamsin dances a variety of styles. She has recently performed authentic jazz/charleston, having worked with a number of dance troupes, including The Bristolettes - https://www.facebook.com/bristolettes/.
