Monthly social swing dance night in Frome, The Station
First Friday of the Month, 7.30pm - 10.30pm
Come and join us for our monthly social swing
dance night, Swing into Friday, with beginners
'taster' swing dance class to set you off! The
evening is for all levels of dancers, and is about
meeting others to dance, have fun and relax. There
is no pressure to dance, or to be a certain level of
swing dancing - it's all about having fun and l
earning as you go.

When - - The first Friday of the month, starting with Friday 3rd March, from 7.30pm - 10.30pm.

Where - - Super Studio, The Station, Station Approach, Frome, Somerset, BA11 1RE. The Station is a hub of activity, especially in the warmer months, with various scrumptious places to eat and drink.
​
What - - Taster introductory class (all abilities welcome to join in but this will be aimed at beginners), followed by swing music for dancing to.
​
£10, cash only please.

Who can come? Anyone, 18+, of any age or dance ability.
​
What to wear? - Flat shoes with a smooth sole are ideal. Other than that, anything goes!

What is Swing Dance? - - The history of swing dates back to the 1920's, where the African-American community, while dancing to contemporary Jazz music, discovered the Charleston and the Lindy Hop. There are various types of 'swing' dancing. We focus particularly on Lindy Hop, which is a partnered dance. It is the most iconic style of swing dancing - some consider it to be as popular today as it was in the 1930s.

What is a social swing dance night? - - It is a time to dance, watch, meet others and above all, enjoy yourself. We play a mixture of original vintage swing tunes, and some more modern ones mixed in from time to time, as well as a little blues and jazz.

Swing Dance Social Evenings with Taster Class!
The last Thursday of the month (except August) at 23 Bath Street, £5 for Beginners 'Taster' Class and/or social dancing for all levels.

7.30pm - Beginners 'Taster' Class
​
We start off with a drop in class for beginners
and those wanting to recap what they’ve learnt.
No previous dance experience necessary, and
all levels are welcome!

8.30 - 11pm - The Social Dancing
All levels and all ages welcome! If you haven’t tried swing dancing then come to the Beginners Taster Class for some moves to get you started, or to recap what you've learnt. Swing dancing is a very sociable dance – all levels dance with each other and the focus is on having fun, not on what you know!
What to Wear
Flat shoes that have a smooth sole are ideal, as they will help you to move around more easily.
Dresses, jeans, jumpsuits... the choice is yours!
